Aquatic Projects and Information

Due to legal changes regarding the application of herbicides to waters of the United States (NPDES), Kootenai County Noxious Weed Control will no longer be doing herbicide treatments on any milfoil infested waters in the County. Starting in 2012, all herbicide treatments will be conducted by the Idaho State Department of Agriculture. http://invasivespecies.idaho.gov/aquatic-invasive-species/

Taking Care of YOUR Water Weeds

Getting tired of all the water weeds around your dock and swim areas. You can do something about it. Water weeds can be managed by lakeshore owners by either pulling or cutting the weeds. However you choose to remove the weeds in your area, PLEASE REMOVE ALL PULLED OR CUT WEEDS FROM THE WATER AND DISPOSE OF THEM ON DRY LAND. The homeowners on the lake that are up wind from you would appreciate not having to clean up your weeds from their bay or beach. JET SKING THROUGH WEED INFESTED WATERS only cuts the weeds and makes a mess. Please stay out of these areas. Thank You
